What is a placement student?

Placement students are university undergraduates whose degrees require that they spend the third year of a four-year university degree programme in the working environment. Given the nature of the academic year, this means that, typically, placement students start employment between July-September, and work for a period of 12 months.

These students are employed to fulfil a real work function and employers will pay placement students a salary for their services (typically between £13,000 and £19,000).

With increasing emphasis on work experience, a growing number of university degree courses incorporate the 'placement scheme' or 'sandwich year' as part of the degree courses that they run. Such schemes are seen as providing huge benefits to students in that it provides them with invaluable work experience that supports their chosen degree course/vocation.

Placement Solutions' mission statement is "to provide outstanding candidates to clients in order to add value to their organisation, whilst providing an outstanding level of service to employers and prospective employees alike."
